The private, nonprofit managers of America’s premier national scenic trail are trying to bring 1 million young people into its work by 2013.
January 15th was the start of a week’s worth of voting in a charity campaign sponsored by the JPMorgan Chase Bank Foundation. Last month, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) was the only West Virginia nonprofit, the only trail organization, and the only national park partner of 100 groups nationwide to win a $25,000 grant in the first round of the campaign. That made it eligible for a chance at a $1 million prize this month.
Five other registered nonprofits with annual budgets of $10 million or less will be awarded $100,000 each.
