On Monday, April 13th, friends and supporters of Great Basin National Park gathered at the Great Basin Visitor Center in Baker, Nevada, to acknowledge the substantial gift made by NV Power to the Great Basin National Park Foundation.
Representatives from NV Power â Karen Ross, Mary Simmons, and Mark Severts â presented a poster-sized check showing the total amount donated to the Foundation to date â a sum of $190,000. This donation has helped to fund the new exhibits at the visitor center, a project with a total cost of $1.1 million, much of which has been raised by the Foundation.
Representing the Foundation at the ceremony were chairman Mike Niggli and board members Becky Mills, Dave Tilford, Jerry Martin, and Bob Palmer. The impressive exhibits, which superintendent Andy Ferguson and interpretive ranger Brandi Roberts were happy to show off, interpret the natural and cultural resources of the entire Great Basin region.
âWe are very appreciative of both the wonderful fund raising efforts of the Great Basin National Park Foundation and the generosity of NV Power,â said Ferguson. âThank you!â
Visitors are invited to come enjoy the exhibits: the Great Basin Visitor Center is currently open daily from 10:00 a.m. â 2:00 p.m. (PDT). Summer hours (8:00 a.m. â 5:30 p.m. PDT) begin Friday, May 22.
