On August 17th, Scotts Bluff hosted renowned Mark Twain impersonator Wally Seiler in an event that was cosponsored by the Nebraska Humanities Council as part of their lecture circuit series.
Seiler spoke as Mark Twain to a standing-room-only audience (some visitors turned away when they saw the size of crowd). He shared glimpses of Twain's life and samples of the stories he wrote and shared with crowds back in his day. Many of the audience members enjoyed being reminded of the stories and mentioned that they wanted to read them again.
Wally Seiler is a businessman from Alliance, Nebraska, which is about 60 miles from the monument. He’s the past chair of the Nebraska Library Commission and past winner of a nationwide Mark Twain look-alike contest at Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee in Angels Camp, California.
