While visiting Mammoth Cave National Park on July 2nd, Kelly and Anton Berg became Junior Rangers – for the 50th time in five months.
After completing “Trog,” a just-for-kids underground crawling activity, rangers presented them their badges at the Historic Entrance to Mammoth Cave.
Last winter, Brenda Berg planned a six-month educational trip for her children, Kelly and Anton, traveling and taking in points of interest along the way.
National parks were not initially a big part of their itinerary. Early on in their adventure that changed, after a stop at Castillo De San Marcos National Monument when the family discovered the Junior Ranger program.
Kelly, Anton and Brenda enjoyed it so much they decided to revise their plans so as to include as many national parks as possible. They will have visited national park sites in all of the lower 48 states by summer’s end.
With one more month of travel ahead of them, the family heads to the Northeast before returning to their home in North Carolina.
