Puppy Fever Strikes The Heart Of Alaska

Denali National Park and Preserve

National Park News

Puppy fever has struck the heart of Alaska. Canine ranger, Sultana, gave birth to three puppies on May 3rd. This triggered a rush of “puppy prospectors” flocking to the kennels to see the next generation of Denali sled dogs named after historic mining claims, Polly Wonder, Little Annie and Lucky Strike. (They were shortened to Polly, Annie and Lucky). Virtual puppy footage and information is also high in demand. Staff is racing to provide consistent Facebook posts, Tweets and multimedia for Denali National Park kennels fans near and far.

The puppy webcam is back this year, going live on Tuesday May 29th. It can be found at http://www.nps.gov/dena/photosmultimedia/webcams-pups.htm. In addition to this continuous footage provided by the “Puppy Cam,” we released the first episode of a new YouTube series, “The Puppy Paws,” on Thursday May 24th. This series will provide viewers with a behind the scenes glimpse of our puppy training and development. Check out the first video at the Denali National Park YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/DenaliNPS?feature=mhee.  Stay tuned for more episodes coming soon!
