In effort to better connect with its local communities, staff at Capulin Volcano National Monument have been as busy as elves this holiday season.
Members of all divisions, including the acting superintendent, volunteered their talents to build a parade float for the Clayton-Union County Annual Christmas Light Parade. The seven foot glowing and smoking volcano awed the crowd and was quite a spectacle, earning the park third place in the float competition. Park employees were delighted to participate in the yearly event and perform community outreach.
The park subsequently held its first holiday open house on December 16th, an event that that brought together friends, neighbors, and former staff.
