Fee Demo Receipts Fund A New Outdoor Wagon Display

Scotts Bluff National Monument

National Park News

In the 1850 and the 1860s, pioneer wagons lined up to make the hazardous journey through Mitchell Pass while heading west on the Oregon or Mormon Trails.  Today visitors can get a better feeling for this passage due to the addition of a third wagon to the park’s outdoor display through money from the fee demonstration program.

For the first time, all of the major wagon types employed in the pioneers’ cross-country journeys are displayed in the park. Lined up on the approach to Mitchell Pass are a Conestoga wagon, a Murphy wagon, and the new Studebaker wagon, added on May 26th.
